Sister Missionaries are SPOILED

Just kidding. But not really. They kindof are.

I’m not sure when this came out on the church website, but here is the new “Dress and Grooming” page for sister missionaries:

This was my least favorite outfit too. Why did everyone else get to wear the cool colorful things and I was stuck with the old conservative garb? Oh well, at least my purple purse gives me that sassy edge.

I am really impressed with the amount of change that has happened between now and when they had the “old” standards – which was not too long ago at all. When I got my call I was given this pamphlet:

Sister_Missionaries_2_Old

Blaugh. Horrible. How did this go on for so

SO long?! How long is it going to take for them to update these new guidelines? 10 years? 20?

At least now you can be cute and sassy!

The thing about having a cute baby…

Is that you could have all the most profound thoughts to write about in a blog -  but in the end, all people want are pictures of said baby.

specially if the baby is taking a nap with her dad…

…or is taking a bath in a pink bathtub.

Lucky for you all, my brain is fried from sleep deprivation so I have no such profound thoughts to write about. So you’ve been spared for today.

I suppose I am pretty delusional to think that my thoughts are profound anyways….

Methinks I’ve taken too many pain meds

I thought about this today.

What is the proper term? All I ever seem to hear is “Jean Jacket” in reference to one of these:

jean jacket

But I always use the term “denim.” It this the fashion policewoman in me? Or the textile know-it-all? I certainly don’t know it all when it comes to textiles, but I always wonder how the word “denim” isn’t in more common usage. Like, for example, Liz Lemon on 30 Rock. She said “jean jacket” and I thought in my head “denim, DENIM!!”

…….

Well at least I still know how to tie my shoes. Or buckle my Birkenstocks.

P.S.

Speaking of Birkenstocks,  if one comes from Seattle is he truly called a “Seattle-ite,” like unto the Lamanites and the Nephites of ancient times? What about a “Washingtonian”? I don’t know if I have heard of any other way to express one’s northwest heritage. I suppose this will be my next dinner table topic of choice, right along with “who would win in a cage match, a tiger or a bear? John Stewart or Stephen Colbert? Binky the Clown or Krusty the Clown? Etc.

Pippa

So..

I say “so” a lot. Don’t mean to be that annoying.

I am really kindof enjoying not being pregnant anymore. Like, really. It’s worth all the post-surgery pains. All of the attention can be off me now, and on poor little Pippa.

We really like her.

We forgot to mention the official stats on our last post. So here they are:

Philippa (Pippa) Reece Croft

Born June 28th 2011 9:18am

9 pounds 1 oz. (Now can you see why I enjoy not being pregnant anymore?)

19 1/2 inches long

Rated 10/10 in cuteness

I love being at home now. The hospital was cool, but the food was kinda blah. Definitely not enough salt for Micah. There were also way too many people coming in and out to check on me. As you may or many not know, I kindof like to have a little space. I felt like I introduced myself to a new person every 1/2 hour.  But, we had a lot of good people take care of us. Even though one nurse had to poke me 3 times to get the IV in. This is usually not a problem for me, since I have massive veins.

I am sorry I don’t have some epic birth story, since having a scheduled c-section kindof  lets you forego all the drama of labor, dilation, contractions, etc. Seems like “the story” is all the rage these days on “Mommy blogs.” I guess this is not really a mommy blog. Sorry to disappoint, yo.

Still, we anticipate many cute pictures and fun times as a family of 3 now. ONWARD TO ETERNITY!
